Lets get you started on how to Setup HP Officejet Pro 9010 Fax Machine . Follow our step by step guide on how to setup and send fax with HP Wireless Fax Machine.
Prepping Your Fax Machine
Write down the SSID of the wireless network you want your fax to connect to and the password for the network.
Plug in your fax to an AC outlet as close as possible to your router. The closer you are to the router the stronger the fax’s connection will be; without a strong connection some print jobs may get lost.
Turn on your machine and let it warm up completely.
Plug in the telephone cable to a wall jack and then plug the other end into the “Line In” port on the back of your fax machine.
If it has a handset, pick it up and listen for a dial tone. Your machine needs a working telephone line to send and receive faxes.
If you don’t hear a dial tone, move your machine to a different wall jack until you hear one.
Press your “Menu” or “Settings” button and navigate to your network setting options. Choose the WLAN or LAN settings. Consult your fax’s manual for the exact wording of your option; the location of network settings often varies by manufacturer.
Select the “Change” or “Setup” function to tell your fax how to connect to your network.
Select the SSID of your network from the list provided.
Enter the network password when prompted. Faxes often have limited keyboards, so review your manual to determine how to capitalize letter or switch between numbers and letters on dual-function keys.
Wait for notification from your fax that it has connected to the network. Some fax machines will display a connection notice on their screen, some have lights that signal a live connection and others may print out a test page that says you’re connected.
Installing Your Drivers
Log in to your PC as an administrator.
Insert the installation CD that came with your fax machine if you have it. If not, navigate to the website of your fax machine manufacturer, find the proper driver and download it.
Run the CD or driver installer. If it provides multiple operating system choices, make sure to select your specific operating system from the list.
Accept any license agreements and complete the installation process. Reset your computer if prompted to by the on-screen instructions.
Establishing A Connection
Choose the “Wireless” network connection option on your installation wizard. This will appear after your drivers are installed or after you’ve reset your PC.
Select your wireless network from the list provided and click the “Next” or “Search” button. This tells your PC to look for the fax machine on your network.
Select your device from the list and click “Next.” If your installation wizard asks you to change firewall settings, click the option to change the port settings to enable your device and select your device from the list. You will not need to adjust port numbers or other information from this installer.
Click “Install” if your wizard prompts you to install a driver. This applies the drivers you’ve already downloaded to the fax on your network.
Select the option to set this fax machine as your default fax. If it is a multipurpose machine you can also set it as your default printer.
Click “Finish” to end the installation. You may be prompted to reset your computer again. After resetting, log in to your computer as an administrator to complete the installation process.
Send a test fax to see if your machine is properly working. Fax machine manufacturers operate test lines specifically for this purpose and the number can be found in your manual.
